The deep-dive single-script lens

While the Triage Queue is designed for rapid batch processing of flags across an entire classroom, By Script is your focused, comprehensive assessment workbench. It allows you to examine a single learner's complete submission in depth: every uploaded file, every individual Pass, Merit, and Distinction criterion, and your cumulative assessor feedback notes.

Here, you have full context. You can see how a student's introductory discussion connects with their later financial calculations or marketing strategy, giving you the holistic view necessary to make authentic assessor judgements.

Uploading student evidence: Word & PDF

Student work can be uploaded directly within the By Script lens for the selected student:

Word Documents (.docx)
SUPPORTED

Multi-Activity Files
BATCHED
Upload presentation decks, speaker notes, and formal reports together under one student.
Senior assessor tip
Re-uploads & Resubmissions: If a student resubmits an assignment following an authorized resubmission window, click Re-upload evidence on the student profile. See the complete Re-uploading Evidence & File Replacement section below for selective activity swapping and Pearson compliance rules.

Re-uploading Evidence, File Replacement & Resubmissions

In vocational BTEC programmes, assessment is iterative. Learners may need to correct an incorrectly attached file, submit a revised financial model for an authorized resubmission, or replace an entire project document. checkb.tech provides seamless, granular file replacement workflows designed specifically to protect previously verified criteria and maintain rigorous audit trails for Pearson Quality Nominees and Standards Verifiers.

Selective Activity Replacement
GRANULAR CONTROL
Swap out solely a single activity (such as replacing an Activity 2 financial spreadsheet or revised report) while keeping Activity 1 (presentation deck) and Activity 3 (speaker notes) completely untouched.
Full Script Replacement
CONSOLIDATED DROP
Drop a new consolidated multi-activity document or archive. checkb.tech parses the new file, extracts all learning aims, and maps evidence across the full specification.
Selective Re-Grading
SMART SCAN
When re-evaluating evidence, the deterministic engine checks only the modified activity. Previously graded and untouched activities are preserved, cutting scan time and protecting confirmed judgements.
Retained Removal History
IV AUDIT TRAIL
Every replaced or detached file is permanently logged with timestamps and original file references in the moderation trail, providing 100% transparency during Internal Verification and SV sampling.

The 4-Step Re-upload Routine

When replacing student evidence or processing an authorized resubmission, follow this four-step routine:

  1. Click Re-upload Evidence: On the learner's profile in By Script (or from the Student Database), click Re-upload evidence to open the granular Activity Upload Panel.
  2. Replace Target Activity: Locate the specific activity card requiring modification. Drag and drop the revised Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf) file onto that card's drop zone, or use the replace file action. To replace all activities at once, drop files into the bulk intake area.
  3. Review Suggested Mapping: If bulk dropping, checkb.tech inspects filenames and suggests the target activity for each file. Confirm the mapping or adjust dropdowns so each file aligns with the correct learning aim before uploading.
  4. Run Selective Advisory Check: Click Validate & Grade. The engine scans solely the un-graded or modified activities, refreshes criterion status chips (MET, PARTLY MET, NOT MET), and highlights unresolved gaps while preserving your existing feedback notes.
Watch out
Pearson BTEC Resubmission & Compliance Protocol:
  • 15-Working-Day Resubmission Window: Under Pearson BTEC International regulations, a resubmission must be formally authorized by the Lead Internal Verifier (LIV), must be completed within 15 working days of the student receiving initial summative feedback, and must be executed by the learner independently with no further teacher instruction.
  • Formative Guidance Boundaries (No Over-Coaching): Resubmission feedback must clearly identify which criteria are unachieved and describe the nature of the deficiency (e.g. "Criterion M2 is not met because the financial ratios lack comparative analysis against industry benchmarks"). Assessors must never provide step-by-step coaching, model answers, or specific writing corrections.
  • Criteria Capping & Retakes: If a learner fails to achieve Pass criteria on the initial submission and an authorized resubmission still fails to meet criteria, any subsequent retake requires a completely new assignment brief with different scenarios and is subject to Pearson programme grading capping rules.

Deterministic evaluation (temperature 0)

In high-stakes vocational qualifications like Pearson BTEC, inconsistent grading advice is unacceptable. checkb.tech employs a strictly deterministic evaluation model running at temperature 0.

Exact Reproducibility
ZERO DRIFT
The same student submission evaluated against the same BTEC specification criteria will yield identical evidence extraction, criterion status judgements, and excerpt matches every single time.
Zero Hallucination Rubric Anchoring
PEARSON RUBRIC
The AI is constrained directly to published unit specifications, verifying whether command verbs (e.g. describe, analyse, evaluate) are fulfilled in the student's text.

The screen, in 15 seconds

By Script organizes your assessment workspace into three structured columns:

1Student Navigation List (left): Switch between learners in your batch. Badges indicate remaining open flags per student.
2Advisory Criteria Summary (center): Detailed list of all unit criteria with live status chips (MET, PARTLY MET, NOT MET) and clickable evidence excerpts.
3Feedback Composer & Controls (right): Enter your official formative or summative commentary, toggle completion status, and generate private student links.

Working with criterion status chips

Every criterion in the unit specification is evaluated and badged with a distinct visual pill:

Criterion StatusVisual IndicatorAssessor Action Required
MetMETEvidence verified. No action required unless you wish to add commendations in your feedback commentary.
Partly MetPARTLY METClick to expand the excerpt. Review whether the student's analysis satisfies your centre standard or requires revision.
Not MetNOT METVerify that the required evidence is truly absent across all uploaded files. Formulate targeted feedback explaining the missing component.

Reading flagged excerpts & context cues

When you click any flagged criterion row, checkb.tech expands a Contextual Evidence Card. This card displays:

Direct Student Excerpt
EVIDENCE QUOTE
Exact quoted sentences from the student's submission showing where the concept was attempted.
Document Source Cue
FILE MATCH
Identifies which uploaded file (e.g. Activity 1 PPTX vs Activity 2 DOCX) contained the passage.
Advisory Rationale
DEFICIENCY REASON
A concise explanation of why the AI considers the evidence incomplete against Pearson command verbs.

Formative vs. summative feedback notes

Pearson BTEC International guidelines strictly regulate how assessor feedback is delivered at different stages of the assessment cycle:

Feedback TypeAssessment StagePearson Compliance Rules
Formative GuidanceDuring teaching & initial draft reviewsMay guide learners on general concepts, research skills, and structure. Must NOT give specific solutions to assignment tasks.
Summative FeedbackFollowing official assignment submissionMust confirm which criteria are achieved and justify the assessment decision. Must NOT give step-by-step coaching on how to fix unachieved criteria if a resubmission is authorized.
Watch out
Avoid Over-Coaching in Summative Notes: When writing feedback for criteria that are partly met or not met on an official submission, state clearly what was missing (e.g. "The submission does not include an evaluation of the financial risks"), rather than telling the student exactly what to write (e.g. "To pass, write two paragraphs about cash flow forecasting on page 4").

Case Study — Assessing Distinction Criterion D1ASSESSOR REVIEW

Criterion D1: Evaluate the extent to which the business environment impacts on the activities of two contrasting organisations.

AI Advisory Finding: PARTLY MET. The student included detailed PESTLE external factor descriptions for both Tesco and a local bakery, but concluded with a single paragraph stating "both businesses are affected by taxes and technology".

Assessor Decision: You agree that a full evaluation requires weighing which external factor has the most critical strategic impact on each organisation. You record summative feedback: "P1, P2, P3, and M1 are achieved. For D1, your submission outlines PESTLE factors but does not provide a reasoned evaluation comparing the significance of these environmental pressures between the two businesses."
