Setting up Level 2 & Level 3 tracks
checkb.tech includes pre-loaded specification rubrics for the major Pearson BTEC Business pathways:
| BTEC Qualification | Level | Standard Units Included |
|---|---|---|
| BTEC International Level 2 Award / Certificate | Level 2 (Vocational) | Unit 1: Business Organisations & Operations, Unit 2: Business Marketing, Unit 3: Financial Forecasting. |
| BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma | Level 3 (Advanced) | Unit 1: Exploring Business, Unit 2: Marketing Campaign, Unit 3: Business Finance, Unit 8: Recruitment & Selection, Unit 14: Managing an Event. |

Mandatory vs. optional units
In BTEC programmes, mandatory units (such as Unit 1 and Unit 2 in Level 3) establish foundational business knowledge and must be completed by all learners. Optional units allow centres to tailor their course to local employment needs or teacher expertise.
Within checkb.tech, assessors can unlock and activate precisely the optional units delivered by their department, keeping the lens rail streamlined and clutter-free.
Batch lifecycle: Creation, active marking, archiving
Every teaching cohort progresses through a natural three-phase lifecycle:
- Batch Creation: Click + New Batch. Assign a descriptive batch name (e.g.
2025-26 Year 10 Unit 1 Business - 10A), choose the qualification level and unit, and import your student roster. - Active Assessment: Upload learner scripts, execute AI advisory scans, triage criteria flags, write feedback notes, and share student links.
- Archiving & Certification: Once final grades are confirmed by the BTEC Coordinator and verified by the IV/SV, export your moderation log and archive the batch. Archived batches remain permanently searchable in read-only mode for the mandatory 3-year Pearson audit window.
Trash bin & safe recovery
To prevent accidental data loss during busy marking periods, checkb.tech includes a two-stage deletion safeguard:
Aligning with your centre's scheme of work
We recommend establishing standard batch naming conventions across your department at the start of each academic year:
| Academic Term | Recommended Batch Title | Assessor Workflow |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn Term (Sept – Dec) | 2025-26 Y10 L2 Unit 1 — 10A | Initial formative upload → Triage Queue → First summative submission. |
| Spring Term (Jan – Mar) | 2025-26 Y10 L2 Unit 2 — 10A | Duplicate roster from Unit 1 batch → Marketing campaign upload. |
| Summer Term (Apr – Jun) | 2025-26 Y10 L2 Resubmissions | Authorized 15-day Pearson resubmission batches for borderline learners. |
