UnclassifiedThe Pass standard has not been met.

For a Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Business unit, the assessor reviews the learner's evidence against the full unit criteria. Pearson describes these criteria as linked: a higher unit grade includes the requirements at the lower grade bands too.

How the assessor reaches a result

  1. Check the correct unit, assignment and criteria are being used.
  2. Compare the evidence with every relevant criterion, using Pearson's guidance for that unit.
  3. Record which criteria are met and the evidence that supports each decision.
  4. Decide the highest grade band where all required criteria are met.

A Pass is a defined level of achievement; it is not awarded just because the learner completed the task. If Pass requirements have not been met, follow the centre's assessment and any approved resubmission process.

Is a unit grade the final qualification grade?

No. Each unit receives Pass, Merit, Distinction or Unclassified. Pearson then uses the learner's unit results, unit sizes and qualification rules to calculate the overall grade. A unit Distinction does not automatically mean an overall qualification Distinction.

Read what the P, M and D codes mean, how assignments are marked and how the overall grade is calculated.

For official rules, consult the assessment and qualification grading sections of Pearson's Level 2 Business specification.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
