What Is Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Hospitality?

Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Hospitality develops knowledge and practical skills for hospitality settings. The units span areas such as customer service, food and beverage service, accommodation, food preparation, events, sustainability, health and safety, and stock control. Which topics a learner studies depends on the qualification size and its unit structure.

How do the sizes differ?

Pearson’s Issue 1 specification (December 2023) describes Award, Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma qualifications. It gives a separate unit structure for each size, and some units are assessed through a Pearson Set Assignment (PSA). For example, the Award has four mandatory units, three assessed by PSA. Check the specification for the exact size rather than assuming the same unit or PSA count applies across the suite.

Teacher planning

Map practical facilities, ingredients or equipment, safe working and assignment timing against the chosen units. Use Pearson’s Hospitality specification and the International Level 2 directory. See our subject guide for the wider suite.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
