A BTEC specification is the reference document for the qualification. When you search for one, start with the full registered course title rather than only “BTEC Business” or “Performing Arts Level 3”. A similar subject name does not establish that a document applies to your learners.

Start at the official subject page

Open Pearson's International Level 2 or International Level 3 qualification area, choose the subject and follow its specification download. Keep the subject-page link alongside your downloaded copy so you can return to the source when preparing the next cohort.

For example, Pearson has a dedicated International Level 2 Business (2022) page. The phrase “Level 2 Business” in a search result is not enough to confirm the right course.

Read the structure before jumping to a unit

Find the table for your qualification size first. Note the required units, any permitted choices and the assessment route. Then open each relevant unit. This order helps prevent planning around an interesting optional unit before checking whether it belongs in the learner's programme.

A useful department record has four fields: full course title, specification issue, chosen unit codes and source link. Add a date when a colleague checks it. This is a suggested working record, not a new form required by Pearson.

Keep the specification and assignment separate

The specification and the assignment answer different planning questions. Read the specification to establish what the course requires; read the authorised assignment and its instructions to establish how the particular assessment should run. A folder containing a brief is not a substitute for checking the qualification document.

See what a Pearson Set Assignment is for a teacher introduction. If a document seems to conflict with another, take both references to your programme leader or Pearson subject adviser before issuing the assessment.

Which guide should I read next?

These introductions help you navigate the course. Use the applicable Pearson documents for assessment decisions. checkb.tech provides advisory evidence checks; it does not award a final grade.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
