Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

6 criteria
A.P1Explain the purpose and legal considerations for different digital graphic products.
A.P2Explain the technical characteristics of different digital graphic products, including a limited explanation of how they impact on their usability and accuracy.
B.P3Produce designs for 2D and 3D digital graphic products to meet the client’s brief.
B.P4Review the designs for 2D and 3D digital graphic products to identify and inform refinements.
C.P5Develop 2D and 3D digital graphic products to meet the client’s brief.
C.P6Review the extent to which the 2D and 3D digital graphic products meet the client’s brief.

Merit

3 criteria
A.M1Discuss the purpose and characteristics of different digital graphic products, including how they impact on their usability and accuracy. products to meet a client brief
B.M2Justify design decisions for 2D and 3D digital graphics products, showing how they will provide effective solutions to meet the client’s brief. products to meet a client brief
C.M3Optimise the 2D and 3D digital graphic products to effectively meet the client’s brief.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1Evaluate the purpose and characteristics of different digital graphic products, including how they impact on their usability and accuracy.
BC.D2Evaluate the 2D and 3D digital graphics product designs and the optimised product solutions against the client’s brief.
BC.D3Demonstrate individual responsibility, creativity and effective self-management in the design, development and review of digital graphic products.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

EvaluateExplainDiscussDemonstrateProduceReviewJustifyDevelopOptimise
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
