What Is a Pearson Set Assignment in Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Business?
A Pearson Set Assignment (PSA) is a unit assignment set by Pearson. In Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Business, centre teachers assess the learner’s work against the unit requirements. Pearson setting the task does not mean Pearson marks it.
Which units use PSAs?
- Unit 2: Research and Plan a Marketing Campaign.
- Unit 6: Principles of Management.
- Unit 7: Business Decision Making.
Unit 2 is mandatory in all five sizes. Units 6 and 7 are required in some sizes and optional in others. Check the structure table for the learner’s exact qualification.
How does a PSA differ from another internal assignment?
For a PSA, Pearson sets the assignment and the centre marks it. For other internally assessed units, the teacher or centre sets the task in line with Pearson’s requirements and the centre marks it. Both are internal assessment; follow the specific unit and task instructions.
What should teachers check?
- Confirm the unit uses a Pearson Set Assignment.
- Access the authorised assignment for the relevant series.
- Read current instructions for timing, supervision, resources and evidence.
- Plan dates around the advised assessment period.
- Assess against the unit criteria and follow centre record-keeping procedures.
Pearson says set assignments are available from September and valid through the following August. Check current materials rather than reusing an old task. Read the assessment overview and the qualification guide. For official details, use Pearson’s Issue 4 specification and current Business qualification page.
