Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Art and Design is a practical course for learners studying creative work alongside other areas. Pearson says it can support progression to Level 3 Art and Design, related apprenticeships, or provide creative skills useful in areas such as creative media, engineering, business and marketing. Its purpose makes a planned cycle of investigation, idea development, making and review central to teaching.

Which qualification size?

Pearson’s current suite includes Award (120 GLH), Certificate (240 GLH) and Extended Certificate (360 GLH). Check the exact unit combination and assessment rules for the chosen size; do not carry a unit count or assignment arrangement across sizes without checking. The published suite has been extended, so use the current Pearson page for registration and certification dates.

Planning assessment

Read each unit’s brief and criteria before setting up studio time, materials and evidence capture. Pearson’s current specification and assessment materials are linked from the official Art and Design qualification page. For other subjects in the suite, start with our Level 2 subject guide, or compare the Creative Media overview.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
