What is Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Creative Media?
Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Creative Media introduces learners to planning and developing ideas for media products, then lets them build specialist skills in areas such as video, photography, web, animation, audio, print, advertising and digital games. Pearson describes it as a practical, unit-based qualification for international learners.
Which sizes are available?
Pearson's Issue 1 specification (December 2023) lists three sizes:
- Award: 120 guided learning hours (GLH), two units.
- Certificate: 240 GLH, four units.
- Extended Certificate: 360 GLH, six units.
All units are 60 GLH. The Award is a short introduction alongside other study; the Certificate adds two specialist units; and the Extended Certificate supports a more substantial programme. These are separate course options, not stages every learner must take.
How is it assessed?
All assessment is internal and marked by teachers. The mandatory units use Pearson Set Assignments (PSAs), which Pearson sets and teachers mark. Optional units are assessed through assignments set by the centre in line with Pearson's unit requirements. Check the unit structure before planning, because the assessment type varies by unit.
