Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Engineering develops engineering thinking and safe working practices. Pearson identifies three specialist pathways: Engineering, Mechatronics and Vehicle Technology. Learners also develop transferable skills intended to support progression to further education or employment.

Choose and plan the pathway

Confirm the learner’s qualification size and pathway before mapping the units. The unit mix determines which technical areas are taught and which assessment tasks apply. Read the current specification and each unit’s assessment guidance before scheduling practical activities; some units use Pearson Set Assignments, while assessment details vary by unit.

Check the official specification

Pearson identifies the qualification as International-only and first taught in September 2022. Its Engineering page links to the current specification and assessment materials. Compare with Construction or browse the full Level 2 subject guide.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
