Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

7 criteria
A.P1Describe the different structures used within business organisations.
A.P2Describe the key job roles and responsibilities within business organisations.
B.P3Explain the factors a business would need to consider when planning a new job role.
B.P4Produce a job description and a person specification for a specific job role.
C.P5Apply for a suitable job role and state any other requirements relevant to the job role.
C.P6Plan for and participate in an interview for a specific job role.
C.P7Use a personal skills audit to produce a personal career development plan.

Merit

4 criteria
A.M1Compare how job roles differ in organisations with different structures.
B.M2Produce a detailed and relevant job description and person specification for a specific job role.
C.M3Demonstrate detailed research and preparation when planning for and participating in an interview for a specific job role.
C.M4Produce a realistic personal career development plan related to a specific job role.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1Analyse the impact of organisational structure on job roles in a selected business, using appropriate examples.
B.D2Analyse how the job description and personal specification will encourage effective recruitment.
C.D3Analyse any gaps in skills and knowledge that might require further development to apply for a specific job role and identify how these can be developed within the personal career development plan.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

AnalyseDescribeCompareExplainProduceApplyPlanUseDemonstrate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

Learning aims

  • A. Explore organisational structures and job roles in business
  • B. Plan job roles in business
  • C. Plan and prepare for employment

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
