Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

A.P1Explain why properties may need to be converted and adapted.
A.P2Explain the intervention options for the conversion and adaptation of properties.
B.P3Explain how the different approaches to maintenance can preserve and extend the life of properties.
B.P4Describe the different levels of maintenance intervention.
B.P5Produce a maintenance plan for a given property.
C.P6Explain the legislative requirements for a conversion and adaptation of buildings.
C.P7Compare the design options for conversion and adaptation of a given property.
C.P8Produce an outline scheme design and specification for the conversion and adaptation of a given property.

Merit

4 criteria
A.M1Discuss the reasons for intervention options for the conversion and adaptation of a given property.
B.M2Assess how the different approaches to and levels of maintenance can preserve and extend the life of a given property.
B.M3Produce a detailed maintenance plan for a given property.
C.M4Produce a detailed scheme design and outline specification that meets legislative requirements for the conversion and adaptation of a given property.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1Evaluate the needs and intervention options for the conversion and adaptation of a given property
B.D2Evaluate the maintenance requirements and the maintenance plan, and their impact in preserving and extending the life of a given property.
C.D3Justify the proposed scheme design and specification, ensuring that it meets legislative requirements for a conversion and adaptation project of a given property.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

ExplainDescribeProduceCompareDiscussAssessEvaluateJustify
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
