Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

8 criteria
A.P1Describe the application of the DPoW stages in a BIM-enabled design and construct project.
A.P2Describe how the CDE supports a BIM-enabled design and construct project.
B.P3Outline the contribution of CoBie and BIM deployment strategies to support the secure flow of information for a design and construct project.
C.P4Describe the contribution of BIM use to sustainability for a specific design and construct project.
C.P5Describe the contribution of BIM use to gain statutory control for a specific design and construct project.
C.P6Describe the contribution of the 3D BIM environment and AI to modern methods of construction use for a specific design and construct project
D.P7Outline the effect of the industry, professional and government policies, and legislation on construction activities for a given BIM-enabled design and construct project.
D.P8Outline the allocation of roles and resources for a given BIM-enabled design and construct project.

Merit

4 criteria
A.M1Analyse the application of the DPoW and CDE in a BIM-enabled design and construct project.
B.M2Explain the contribution of COBie and BIM deployment strategies to support the secure flow of information for a design and construct project.
C.M3Explain the contribution of BIM for a specific design and construct project.
D.M4Discuss the effect of industry, professional and government policies and legislation on construction activities, roles and resources for a given BIM-enabled design and construction project.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1Evaluate the application of the DPoW and CDE in a BIM-enabled design and construct project.
BC.D2Evaluate the contribution of information management technologies, COBie and BIM deployment strategies for a design and construction project.
D.D3Evaluate the effect of industry, professional and government policies and legislation on construction activities, roles and resources for a given BIM-enabled design and construct project.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

DescribeOutlineAnalyseExplainDiscussEvaluate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
