Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

7 criteria
A.P1- the learner explained the functions of and factors affecting the performance of manufacturing operations and how these might change in the future.
B.P2– They have successfully explained, using contrasting product examples, the principles and characteristics of different manufacturing process types.
B.P3– They have successfully explained, using contrasting product examples, the principles and characteristics of different manufacturing layout types.
B.P4– The learner has used examples from their two products to explain the importance and use of manufacturing documentation.
C.P5– They have explained the key characteristics of Lean and the requirements needed to implement it successfully
C.P6- They have explained how at least one Lean tool and/or method can be applied.
C.P7- They have successfully demonstrated effectively at least one of the key Lean tools, using a manufacturing simulation.

Merit

4 criteria
A.M1- the learner analysed the functions of and factors affecting the performance of manufacturing operations and how these might change in the future.
B.M2–They have analysed, using the engine component and oil seal, the selection of manufacturing process types, layout types and documentation used.
C.M3- There is no analysis of how a range of Lean tools and/or methods relate back to the key characteristics of Lean simulation
C.M4– The learner has not demonstrated a range of the key Lean tools and/or methods using a manufacturing simulation effectively

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1– The learner evaluated, using language that is technically correct and of a high standard, the functions of and factors affecting the performance of manufacturing operations and how these might change in the future.
B.D2– They have also evaluated, using the engine component and oil seal, the selection of manufacturing process types, layouts and documentation used. They have suggested suitable improvements that are appropriate for both of the products.
C.D3– They have not evaluated how a range of Lean tools and/or methods relate back to the key characteristics of Lean including the effectiveness of a Lean manufacturing simulation

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
