A Pearson Set Assignment (PSA) is an assignment Pearson provides for identified units. This guide covers BTEC International. Start with the correct specification before choosing a brief.
Setting and marking are different jobs
For International Level 3, Pearson sets the assignment and the centre assesses the learner's response. Pearson's FAQ says identified PSA units must use the set assignment without adaptation.
Keep the distinction clear in your assessment plan: one field records the assignment source, another records the assessor. It prevents a new colleague from assuming the work goes to Pearson for external marking.
How should I check versions and dates?
Pearson's Level 3 FAQ describes two assignments at the same standard, with different contexts, and annual September releases. It allows centres to schedule delivery without a fixed examination window. Check the current brief for its applicable dates and administration instructions; do not apply a generic calendar to every subject or level.
A practical brief register can record the qualification, unit, printed version, source link, relevant dates and assessment group. Store the actual authorised file with the register. If a file was renamed locally, read its cover before treating the name as reliable.
What about resubmission and retake?
The Level 3 FAQ distinguishes resubmitting the same assignment from a later retake using the second assignment. Eligibility and the Pass cap for the retake must be checked in the applicable rules. These are separate decisions, so retain the original assessment record and the authorisation alongside any later attempt.
