Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Business introduces learners to business and helps them build knowledge and practical skills. The course can cover areas such as business purposes, organisations, finance, marketing and working with people. The exact units depend on the size of the qualification and the course plan.
This article covers the International qualification. Check the full course name in your centre documents before using a specification: UK BTEC First and National courses can have different units and rules.

Choose the qualification size
Pearson lists four Level 2 Business sizes. Their guided learning hours (GLH) and unit requirements differ:
| Qualification | GLH | Units |
|---|---|---|
| Award | 120 | 4 units |
| Certificate | 240 | At least 6 units |
| Extended Certificate | 360 | At least 9 units |
| Diploma | 480 | At least 11 units |
These are different qualification choices, not stages that every learner has to complete one after another. Use the matching article for the qualification you teach:

What does GLH mean?
GLH means guided learning hours. It is Pearson's measure of the teaching, directed activities and assessment time expected for a unit or qualification. It is useful when comparing the size of courses and planning a programme. It is not a promise that every learner will finish their work in exactly that number of hours.

How is the course assessed?
Pearson's Level 2 Business specification says all units are assessed internally. In plain words, the centre assesses the learner's work. For some units, Pearson writes the assignment. For most other units, the teacher or centre writes it, following Pearson's requirements.
So a Pearson Set Assignment is still part of internal assessment. “Set” tells you who prepared the assignment; it does not mean Pearson marks it. Check the specification and the current assignment instructions for the unit you are teaching.
