The Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is the largest size in this suite. Pearson specifies at least eight units: the three mandatory units plus an optional selection totalling at least 360 GLH.

What is mandatory?

All learners complete Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development (30 GLH), Unit 2: Ensuring Healthy Living (30 GLH) and Unit 3: Skills, Attributes and Values Required to Give Care (60 GLH). Each is assessed through a Pearson Set Assignment, and every mandatory unit must achieve Pass or above.

Planning optional units

Units 4–10 provide the optional content, with unit values of 30 or 60 GLH. The centre selects a valid combination totalling at least 360 GLH. Up to the specification’s stated tolerance of optional-unit Unclassified results may be permitted when calculating the final grade; this does not remove the requirement to complete the valid unit combination. Use Pearson’s structure and grade tables rather than assuming that any eight units will qualify.

Compare the Extended Certificate and read the qualification grade guide. The suite overview links to all four sizes. Confirm every option in Pearson’s Issue 1 specification.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
