Unit 6 explores diversity and how health and social care can promote equality of opportunity for service users. It is a 60 GLH internally assessed optional unit in the Pearson BTEC International Level 2 suite.
What does the unit cover?
The four learning aims cover diversity in society; beliefs and practices in religious or secular groups; factors that influence equality of opportunity; and the role of legal frameworks in promoting diversity. Learners also consider how discrimination can affect holistic wellbeing.
The specification is written for an international qualification. For laws and codes of practice, teachers should use the relevant national and local frameworks for their setting, as required by Pearson’s unit content.
