Unit 7 introduces how the body is organised and how body systems work. Over 60 GLH, learners explore two systems in more detail, take routine measurements and consider a common disorder associated with each system.
What does the unit cover?
The unit connects body structure and function with care practice. It introduces major body systems and homeostasis, then gives learners a chance to observe and record routine measures such as temperature, pulse rate and blood pressure. Accuracy matters because these observations can inform decisions in health and social care settings.
The specification allows the two systems to be selected for study. Check its content and assessment guidance before deciding which practical activities and resources are appropriate for your centre.
Assessment and related units
Unit 7 is internally assessed and optional. Its content links to health and safety in Unit 4 and diet and health in Unit 9. The Level 2 HSC unit reference pages provide a place to look up unit details.
