A Pearson Set Assignment (PSA) is an assessment task written by Pearson for a specified unit. In Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Creative Media, the centre assesses the learner’s work; Pearson setting the task does not mean Pearson marks it.

Creative Media PSA units

  • A2: Responding to a Brief is included in all four sizes: Subsidiary Diploma, Foundation Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma.
  • B2: Personal Investigation is included in the Extended Diploma.

The specification describes A2 as a 90 GLH unit, with 90 hours for the Pearson Set Assignment and a recommended 15-hour assessment period. The task includes research and development, personal response(s) and a portfolio. B2 is also a PSA; check its current authorised task and instructions before scheduling it.

Teacher checks

Use the authorised assignment for the relevant assessment period, read its administration instructions, and plan the work in the order required by the specification. Do not replace a PSA with a centre-written task. For the broader process, read the assessment overview and the course guide. Confirm current requirements in Pearson’s Issue 5 specification and approved centre materials.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
