Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Creative Media is a practical, internally assessed qualification for learners developing creative media skills and responding to briefs. Pearson offers four sizes, from a 360 GLH Subsidiary Diploma to a 1,080 GLH Extended Diploma. The qualification uses assessment units grouped into two learning and teaching modules: Exploring and Developing Creative Media Skills, and Advancing Creative Practice.

This guide follows Pearson’s Issue 5 specification (July 2022) for the international qualification. It is different from UK BTEC Nationals and from Pearson’s Level 2 Creative Media Production course.

All four sizes share mandatory units A1: Skills Development and A2: Responding to a Brief. Larger qualifications add units including A3: Creative Project, B1: Personal Progression, B2: Personal Investigation, B3: Creative Industry Response or B4: Extended Creative Industry Response. The specification’s structure table determines the exact combination for each size.

How assessment works

All assessment units are assessed by the centre and verified by Pearson. Some use a Pearson Set Assignment (PSA), where Pearson sets the assignment and the centre assesses it. For this qualification, A2: Responding to a Brief and B2: Personal Investigation are PSA units. Other units use centre-set assessments that follow Pearson’s unit requirements.

For a closer look, read how assessment works, what a Pearson Set Assignment means, and the unit and GLH guide. Check Pearson’s Creative Media qualification page and Issue 5 specification before planning delivery.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
