QuestionShort answer
What is Pearson BTEC International Business?A group of business qualifications for learners studying Pearson's International BTEC programme.
Which levels does this page cover?Level 2 and Level 3. Each level has different qualification sizes.
Where should I check the exact course details?Use the Pearson specification for the level and qualification size you teach.

If you are new to teaching BTEC Business, start with one question: which Pearson qualification is your class taking? The words “BTEC Business” can refer to different courses. The level and full qualification name help you find the right units and assessment rules.

What does “International” mean here?

This page is about Pearson BTEC International Business. It covers the International Level 2 and Level 3 Business qualifications listed by Pearson. These courses are built for Pearson's international qualification programme.

They are not the same course as every UK qualification that uses the BTEC name. For example, a UK BTEC First or BTEC National may have a different specification, unit list or assessment structure. When you look up a rule or unit, check that the document says BTEC International and shows the correct level and subject.

Start with the level your learners are taking

Pearson offers International Business qualifications at two levels in this course group:

Level 2 and Level 3 are separate levels. Within each one, learners may take a qualification of a particular size, such as an Award or Diploma. The size affects the guided learning hours and the units that make up the qualification.

What can a Business teacher check?

For day-to-day planning, check the correct Pearson specification for:

  • the full qualification title and size
  • which units are required and which are optional
  • how each unit is assessed
  • the assessment criteria and any rules that apply to an assignment

Pearson's International Level 2 Business page and International Level 3 Business page provide the official course information and specifications. Use the specification for the exact qualification your centre delivers, because details can differ by level and size.

Where does checkb.tech fit?

checkb.tech's Level 2 Business unit pages and Level 3 Business unit pages are reference pages where you can explore units and their assessment criteria. They are useful after you know which qualification and unit you need. For an introduction to Level 2, start with the Level 2 Business introduction.

For exact course details, use Pearson's current specification. The unit pages are a handy place to look up a unit and its criteria.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
