Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

5 criteria

A.P2Explain how two contrasting business organisations are influenced by stakeholders.
B.P3AGREED. The learner has evidence of research of the aims and objectives for JD and GDBA, and the structures. They have explained the aims, objectives and structure for both which would be sufficient to award.
C.P4Discuss the internal, external and competitive environment on a given business.
C.P5Select a variety of techniques to undertake a situational analysis of a given business.

Merit

3 criteria
A.M1Assess the relationship and communication with stakeholders of two contrasting business organisations using independent research.

Distinction

2 criteria
AB.D1AGREED. To evaluate, a learner must consider either: Strengths and weaknesses or Benefits and drawbacks or Relevance or significance And They must arrive at a supported judgement (i.e. using research) The learner has evidence of evaluation in that they have considered the most important/ relevant functional area to the success of JD and GDBA. There is evidence of research throughout the work. The evidence is presented as a conclusion after both businesses and there is a judgement for both businesses.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

ExplainAgreedDiscussSelectAssessEvaluate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

Learning aims

  • A. Explore the features of different business organisations and what makes them
  • B. Investigate how businesses are organised
  • C.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
