Pass

6 criteria

A.P1Explain, using examples, the characteristics of and reasons why three different types of maintenance are used for the continued operation of plant and equipment.

B.P2Explain the different condition monitoring techniques and equipment used to detect faults and potential failures.

B.P3Interpret the results from a given condition monitoring exercise on a piece of plant or equipment identifying the possible causes.

C.P4Produce a plan and risk assessment to complete a maintenance activity on a piece of plant or equipment.

C.P5Prepare materials, equipment, and procedures to complete maintenance activity on a piece of plant or equipment.

C.P6Complete a maintenance activity safely on a piece of plant or equipment, returning it to service.

Merit

A.M1Compare, using examples, the characteristics and suitability of three different types of maintenance used for the continued operation of plant and equipment.

B.M2Analyse the condition monitoring techniques and equipment used to detect potential faults and failures in a piece of plant or equipment, including the contributory factors

B.M3Analyse the results from a given condition monitoring exercise on a piece of plant or equipment, identifying realistic causes for the faults or failures.

C.M4Produce a detailed and accurate plan and risk assessment to complete a maintenance activity on a piece of plant or equipment.

C.M5Perform a maintenance activity safely, and accurately on a piece of plant or equipment returning it to service.

Distinction

3 criteria

A.D1Evaluate, using language that is technically correct and of a high standard, the characteristics and suitability of three different types of maintenance used for the continued operation of plant and equipment.

B.D2Evaluate the condition monitoring practice for a piece of plant or equipment and the results from a given condition monitoring exercise on a piece of plant or equipment, recommending appropriate interventions to rectify the faults and failures

C.D3Refine, during the process, the planning and performance of a maintenance activity on an item of plant or equipment safely, accurately and efficiently, returning it to service, identifying any future maintenance requirements and/or advice.
