Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

6 criteria
A.P1Explain how a travel and tourism organisation recruits and selects staff, giving reasons for their process.
A.P2Explain how a travel and tourism organisation follows a recruitment process that is ethical and complies with current employment law.
B.P3Produce interviewer and interviewee documents for use in recruitment and selection in a travel and tourism related role.
B.P4Demonstrate appropriate skills, attitudes and behaviours required for a specific job role in the selection interviews, as an interviewer and interviewee.
C.P5Complete a SWOT analysis on own performance as interviewer and interviewee in the recruitment activities.
C.P6Produce a personal skills development plan for future recruitment activities in a travel and tourism related role.

Merit

3 criteria
A.M1Analyse the importance of the recruitment and selection process used in a travel and tourism organisation.
B.M2Demonstrate appropriate skills, attitudes and behaviours with confidence and proficiency to respond and question in recruitment interviews, producing relevant interviewer and interviewee documents.
C.M3Review the SWOT analysis results of the recruitment activities, considering own performance in order to design a plan for improvement.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1Evaluate how the recruitment and selection process used in a travel and tourism organisation contributes to its success.
B.D2Demonstrate skills proficiently, taking the initiative according to own role and selecting appropriate techniques to respond and question in recruitment interviews, producing appropriate interviewer and interviewee documents.
C.D3Review the SWOT analysis results of the recruitment activities, considering own performance, and justify a set of recommendations for career progression in a travel and tourism related role.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

ExplainProduceDemonstrateCompleteAnalyseReviewEvaluate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
