The Pearson BTEC International Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care is the smallest size in the suite. Its purpose is to introduce the sector as part of a wider programme, so the Award combines one mandatory unit with a teacher-planned optional selection.

Which units can the Award include?

Unit 1 is mandatory. Teachers select optional units totalling 90 GLH from Pearson’s structure. Unit 2, Ensuring Healthy Living (30 GLH) and Unit 3, Skills, Attributes and Values Required to Give Care (60 GLH), are Pearson Set Assignment units if selected. Units 4–10 are internally assessed. The exact selection must meet the stated GLH and unit rules in the specification.

Every Award unit must be achieved at Pass or above for the qualification. This means the Award’s optional choices affect both the programme content and which set assignments learners take. See how the set assignments work and how Pearson calculates the qualification grade.

Compare the full qualification suite with the 240 GLH Certificate. Confirm allowed combinations in Pearson’s Issue 1 specification.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
