The Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Diploma in Business is a 720 GLH qualification with at least nine units. Five are mandatory, and optional units must total at least 240 GLH. Pearson describes it as a substantial part of a 16–19 programme for learners seeking a strong core of Business study.

Mandatory units and assessment

  • Unit 1: Exploring Business — 90 GLH, internal.
  • Unit 2: Research and Plan a Marketing Campaign — 90 GLH, Pearson Set Assignment.
  • Unit 3: Business Finance — 90 GLH, internal.
  • Unit 4: Managing an Event — 90 GLH, internal.
  • Unit 7: Business Decision Making — 120 GLH, Pearson Set Assignment.

Learners must pass all five mandatory units and complete optional units totalling at least 240 GLH. Unit 6, Principles of Management, uses a Pearson Set Assignment if chosen. Some optional combinations may add 30 GLH.

Use Pearson’s structure table to check choices, hours and assessment methods. Read the Level 3 overview, and compare the Foundation Diploma and Extended Diploma. See unit criteria and Pearson’s Issue 4 specification.

Check the criteria before the IV does.

checkb.tech reads learner evidence against the official Pearson criteria and reports every criterion as met, partly met or not met — with the evidence cited. It never awards a grade; the teacher stays the assessor.
