Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

6 criteria
A.P1Outline customer communications processes and development.
A.P2Research customer communications tools for a specific product or service.
B.P3Develop a communications plan that meets set objectives and includes an appropriate message and communications mix.
B.P4Develop communications materials that appropriately meet set objectives.
C.P5Present a professional communications plan and materials to an audience using appropriate technical language and formatting.
C.P6Reflect on the communications plan, materials and presentation, suggesting improvements.

Merit

4 criteria
A.M1Compare relevant communications processes and tools for a specific product or service.
B.M2Develop a detailed communications plan and materials informed by detailed assessment of objectives.
C.M3Present a professional, well-organised communications plan and materials to an audience, selecting and using effective methods and content.
C.M4Reflect on the effectiveness of the communications plan, materials and presentation, suggesting recommendations.

Distinction

2 criteria
AB.D1Develop a thorough communications plan and materials with effective use of relevant tools and processes for a specific product or service.
C.D2Evaluate and reflect on the effectiveness of the professional, coherent communications plan, materials and presentation using audience feedback, making justified recommendations for improvement.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

OutlineResearchDevelopPresentReflectCompareEvaluate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

Learning aims

  • A. Investigate the customer communications process for a specific product
  • B. Plan and create customer communications for a specific product or service
  • C. Present customer communications for a specific product or service

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
