Assessment criteria

Reproduced verbatim from the Pearson specification — the same grid the assignment brief carries. A unit grade is the highest band where all criteria in that band (and every band below it) are met.

Pass

5 criteria
A.P1Explain the changing trends in the events, conferences and exhibitions sector.
B.P2Compare the planning stages in preparing one event, one conference and one exhibition on a local, national and international scale.
B.P3Compare the processes involved in managing an event, conference and exhibition on a local, national and international scale.
C.P4Produce a proposal and financial costing for a local, national or international event, conference or exhibition to meet client requirements.
C.P5Use feedback to review the extent to which the proposal and financial costing meet client requirements.

Merit

3 criteria
A.M1For each host area, analyse the potential impact of the event, conference and exhibition and the potential impact of changing trends in the events, conferences and exhibitions sector.
B.M2Analyse the skills, methods and processes required in successfully planning and managing a selected event, conference and exhibition on a local, national and international scale.
C.M3Justify the choices made in developing the proposal and financial costing to meet client requirements.

Distinction

3 criteria
A.D1For each host area, evaluate the potential impact of the event, conference and exhibition and the potential impact of changing trends in the events, conferences and exhibitions sector.
B.D2Evaluate the importance of the skills, methods and processes required in successfully planning and managing a selected event, conference or exhibition on a local, national and international scale.
C.D3Use feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposal and financial costing against client requirements, making recommendations for potential refinements.

Command verbs in this unit

The verb decides the depth expected — that is what separates Pass from Merit and Distinction work on the same learning aim.

ExplainCompareProduceUseForAnalyseJustifyEvaluate
Pearson's ladder runs Identify → Describe → Explain → Compare / Analyse → Evaluate / Justify / Assess. A Merit or Distinction criterion on the same aim always implies the Pass beneath it: an “evaluate” answer that never first “explains” fails, however polished it reads. Hover a verb for what it demands.

How checkb.tech checks this unit

Upload a learner's submission and checkb.tech reads it against exactly these criteria, reporting each one as met, partly met, or not met — with the evidence that informed the verdict cited, so every call is auditable.

The check runs against the official Pearson documents for this unit, and identical evidence always produces an identical result — the same script gets the same verdict every time.

It never awards a grade. You stay the assessor: confirm, dismiss, or act on every criterion before your assessment decision is final.
